 Seattle’s shoreline is one of the city’s best natural treasures.  Its proximity to the city and the ease of which one can access it make it the crown jewel of the Emerald City. Seattle’s Department of Planning and Development are tasked by the federal government to establish a shoreline master (SMP) program which includes “goals, policies, and regulations that govern land use and activities within the Seattle Shoreline.” The SMP’s specific tasks are to develop goals and policies for “preferred shoreline uses, environmental protection, and public access.”
                Nestled amidst the 207 page SMP are regulations that effect Seattle’s liveaboard community. These regulations have some liveaboards up in arms and ready to raise the pirate standard. Watch the video to find out more or click on the buttons on the right side of the screen!
