Seattle’s Department of Planning and Development are tasked by the <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1307556430_3" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136); cursor: pointer;">federal government</span> to establish a shoreline master (SMP) program which includes “<span>goals, policies, and regulations that govern land use and activities within the Seattle <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1307556430_4" style="border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136); cursor: pointer;">Shoreline</span>.” The SMP’s specific tasks are to develop goals and policies for “<span>preferred shoreline uses, environmental protection, and <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1307556430_5" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136); cursor: pointer;">public access</span>.” </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Nestled amidst the 207 page SMP are regulations that effect Seattle’s liveaboard community.
